SEC-accredited corporate governance for board directors
The Center for Global Best Practices will conduct an SEC-accredited seminar titled, “Board Effectiveness Best Practices” on Nov. 10, 2016 at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel, Mandaluyong City. For family businesses, this is a great way to benchmark on how they can also implement corporate governance in their businesses.
This one-day special corporate governance program is designed to address two important issues: (1) To provide capacity building for board directors by presenting to them the global best practices in board effectiveness drawn from the most updated global research of the largest accounting firm in the world – PriceWaterhouse Coopers / Isla Lipana to be presented by former PWC chairperson Judith V. Lopez. She will also share her valuable insights and experiences being a board director of many companies across various industries; (2) To help all board directors comply with SEC-mandated requirement for them to attend a corporate governance seminar yearly. All board directors of public and publicly-listed companies must attend a corporate governance seminar once a year to be eligible for election / re-election in the board of a corporation. The morning session will feature Jonathan Ravelas, chief market strategist of the largest commercial bank in the Philippines, BDO. He will handle the foundational topics on basic corporate governance, updates on new regulations and a 30-minutes year-end economic briefing relevant to board directors.
This is to provide a new and fresh perspective from the repetitive lectures done yearly for board directors. As one of the few SEC-accredited training providers, CGBP will feature the best practices for board directors to help them enhance their skills to become better members or leaders of the board.
