Sunshine Place is two years old
Sunshine Place has been spreading sunshine for the past two years now. It’s a venue for adults encouraging them to live actively by engaging in recreational classes and age-appropriate physical training programs. It is a place to be entertained, to socialize, and to reflect. It’s got a game area (mahjong, scrabble, chess, jigsaw puzzles), home theatre lounge with lazy boy chairs, videoke facilities, nutritional counselling and fitness assessment, monthly health talks, tutorial lessons in iPad, Foot Zone, beauty parlor, painting gallery, dance studio, a chapel, and a restaurant-cum-flower shop at the ground floor.
Sunshine Place recently celebrated its second anniversary with a retro theme featuring works of students in its different art and writing classes. There were also performances from the Yeba & Social Ballroom Gold students, Social Ballroom Silver and Chair dancing class. Penthouse 7 dancers, led by Sandy Hontiveros, also a dance instructor of Sunshine Place, came to show their dance moves and teach members some popular dances.
To honor members and regular class enrollees, Sunshine Place gave awards to the Best Attendance in Regular Classes under arts, dance, music, and fitness categories. Winners were Roche Batardo for Best in Dance; Rogelio Vinluan in music; and Nenita Lee in fitness. Best Dressed Male in Retro Outfit was given to Philippe Lee dressed a la John Travolta; Best Dressed Female in Retro Outfit to Camie Bolus who came in a mini skirt and fishnet stockings, knee-length boots, and fringed headband. The star of the evening was Harvey Chua who was awarded Miss Sunshine Place 2016. Chua is enrolled in memoir writing, fitness classes, chair dancing, etc. and is considered the friendliest member of the Club.
The winners were awarded with free class vouchers plus a framed caricature painted by Fidel Sarmiento, Sunshine Place’s art teacher. Guest of honor Felicidad T. Sy, with Sunshine Place president Lizanne Uychaco handed out the awards to the winners.
