Dy Tioco named STAR’s EVP, to receive Agora Award
PhilStar Media Group president and CEO Miguel Belmonte is pleased to announce the promotion of Lucien Dy Tioco as executive vice president of PhilStar Media Group, the country’s largest print-based multimedia company, effective Oct. 1, 2016.
Prior to his appointment as EVP, Dy Tioco served as the company’s senior vice president for sales and marketing, overseeing the marketing endeavors and advertising sales operations of The Philippine STAR, BusinessWorld, Pilipino Star Ngayon, PM, The Freeman and Banat. He is credited with driving The STAR to print advertising leadership since 2006. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Santo Tomas in 1985, Dy Tioco joined The STAR as branch coordinator for the newspaper ’ s Classified Ads unit. Later on, he made his mark as a top performer handling advertising sales.
Rising from the ranks, he joined the company’s higher- ranking officials as VP for advertising in 2005. It was during his time as VP for advertising that the Philippine Marketing Association conferred on
The STAR the prestigious Agora Award for Marketing Company of the Year in 2006. Dy Tioco was appointed SVP for sales and marketing in 2012.
Meanwhile, promotions have also been announced for Mick Atienza and Grace Laurel as sales and marketing director and advertising manager of The STAR, respectively.
Atienza, previously sales and marketing manager and a topnotch account strategist of The STAR, is tasked to carry out and manage the programs of The STAR’s advertising sales team. He is also the lead figure in the company’s agency partnership relations.
On the other hand, Laurel will oversee The STAR’s print revenue performance and efforts in her capacity as advertising manager. Laurel is formerly a key accounts manager and has been with the company for nearly 20 years.
Coinciding with Dy Tioco’s promotion, the Philippine Marketing Association will confer upon him tonight the Agora Award for Outstanding Achievement in Marketing Communications during the 2016 Agora Awards Night at the Philippine International Convention Center in Manila. The award is in recognition of his efforts in pushing the envelope to make print media a continuously relevant and evolving form of communication in a highly digitized media landscape.
Considered as the “Oscars of Philippine Marketing,” the Agora Awards recognizes innovative, creative and intrepid Filipino companies, entrepreneurs, business professionals, government agencies and social institutions who have contributed greatly in the advancement of marketing excellence in the country.
The 2016 Agora Awards ceremony will be aired on Bloomberg TV Philippines at a later date.
