Concert to support Caritas Manila scholars
“Love in Abundance: An outpouring of blessings in a special fundraising concert and raffle” will be presented on October 26 for the benefit of Caritas Manila’s Youth Servant Leadership and Education Program (YSLEP) scholars.
In celebration of its 63rd founding anniversary and in support to almost 5,000 YSLEP scholars of Caritas Manila, Smart Infinity and D Source Inc., together with PLDT-Smart Foundation, One Meralco Foundation, Ayala Corp., Ayala Land Inc., and BPI Foundation will hold a benefit dinner concert that will feature the inspirational music of renowned composer and musician maestro Ryan Cayabyab to be held at the Grand Ballroom, Shangri-La at the Fort, Bonifacio Global City.
Caritas Manila executive director Rev. Fr. Anton CT Pascual is appealing for the support for this special event.
“We encourage everyone to support this meaningful concert. Through this musical event, we aim to sustain the needs of Caritas Manila’s YSLEP scholars and to be able to send more youth to school to help and guide them to have a better future,” Pascual said.
He added that these scholars need all the help that they could get especially now that some of them are dependents of drug rehabilitated offenders who are also being assisted by Caritas Restorative Justice Ministry.
Caritas Manila hopes to help these people through its integrated formation program of YSLEP that requires scholars and their parents to go through the values formation, sacramental appreciation, national family planning and responsible parenting, health and nutrition, livelihood and skills training to help them get a sustainable source of income so that they will not go back to their previous lifestyle.
Love in Abundance concert is part of Caritas Manila’s initiatives to collect funds that will help to fulfill this cause.
To be directed by Floy Quintos, the benefit concert will feature the performances of the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, singers Bo Cerrudo, Esang de Torres, Bituin Escalante, Celeste Legaspi and Basil Valdez.
The event will not just be a night of musical entertainment, fortunate members of the audience will also have a chance to be given special gifts such as jewelries and other collectible items donated by a generous benefactor spurred by mercy and compassion to help the poor and the needy who Caritas Manila supports.
YSLEP is the flagship program of Caritas Manila, which extends financial assistance to poor but deserving youth, and trains and hones the youth not only for academic excellence, but also to become servant leaders and good members of the community.
To date, Caritas Manila has produced over 10,000 graduates and continues to provide educational assistance, values formation workshops, and leadership trainings to almost 5,000 students nationwide with an average of 300 college and technical/ vocational graduates yearly.
Caritas Manila is the Archdiocese of Manila’s lead social services and develop- ment ministry. Apart from YSLEP, Caritas Manila runs diverse projects that help the poor fulfill their human potential, such as the Caritas Damayan, and Restorative Justice Ministry, as well as social entrepreneurship programs Caritas Margins and Segunda Mana.
