- By MANNY N. DE LOS REYES

The Bentayga, Bentley’s gamechanging ultraluxury sport utility vehicle, has finally landed on Philippine shores. Captains of industry, clients, and friends from various fields gathered at the posh Bentley Manila showroom on EDSA, Greenhills to witness the launch of Britain’s industry-defining flagship SUV.

Named after the Roque Bentayga, a 4,642- foot mountain peak on Spain’s Grand Canary Island, this ultra- exclusive sport utility is unrestrained by climate or terrain, and combines unparalleled luxury with sporting ability, off- road performance, and everyday usability.

Robert Coyiuto, Jr. , Chairman of Bentley Manila, along with Benedicto Coyiuto, Bentley Manila’s Director, led the unveiling of the Bentayga. The opening remarks was delivered by Mike Moon, UK Trade and Investment Director, while Bentley Manila Director Benedicto Coyiuto gave the welcome remarks.

C! Magazine Editor-inChief and Managing Director Carl Cunanan, who was able to drive the Bentayga thoroughly in an overseas event, was asked to give his impressions on this extraordinary vehicle, which was on the cover of C! Magazine’s August 2016 Issue.

At the heart of the Bentayga W12 is an all- new, twinturbocharged 6.0- litre W12 engine. With a supercar-like 600bhp and a whopping 900Nm of torque on tap, the almost- three- ton W12 delivers a 0-100 km/h time of a stunning 4.1 seconds and a breathtaking top speed of 301 km/h, making the Bentayga the world’s quickest, fastest, and most powerful SUV.

Designed, engineered, and handcrafted in Crewe, England, the Bentayga is pure Bentley. Sculpted with an elegant, timeless design, it perfectly balances athleticism with presence and confidence. From the four round LED headlamps and large matrix grille, to the distinctive power line and muscular haunches, the Bentley DNA is apparent throughout the Bentayga.

The event would not be complete without giving the guests the chance to see and feel the opulence offered by the Bentayga. With unrivalled levels of craftsmanship and precision, the Bentayga boasts one of the world’s finest automotive cabins. Guests

saw for themselves the interior’s intricate detailing in metal, wood, and leather – including meticulous tolerances between elements of trim – all of which create a bespoke, exquisitely luxurious handcrafted interior that is the epitome of modern British luxury. This level of perfection is only achievable thanks to the exceptional craft and skill of Bentley’s team in Crewe, England.

Canapes and bread from PAUL, cognac from Hennessey, and champagne from Moët & Chandon were served during the launch, while furniture from Casa Bella were on hand for guests’ use at the lounge. The sumptuous 5-course dinner was from Ruby Jack’s, treating guests to fine steaks that are some of the best in the world.

Bentley’s extraordinary SUV has been conceived and crafted to open up a new realm of luxury, performance, and go-anywhere ability previously unheard of in the automotive industry. By reassessing the luxury SUV segment, Bentley has reshaped, and ultimately, has redefined it to create an ultra- luxury vehicle designed to take its occupants to extraordinary places.

The fastest, most powerful, most luxurious, and most exclusive SUV in the world is now in Manila – the pride of Crewe, England, the Bentley Bentayga.
