The Bentley Bentayga drives into Manila

- By Kathy Moran

The Bentley Bentayga caters to those who want exclusivity,” says Benedicto T. Coyiuto, Bentley Manila director at the launch of the Bentley Bentayga, recently. “They appreciate elegant, timeless design, and bespoke luxurious interiors, coupled with immense power and go-anywhere ability. They are the type who love the outdoors and go on adventures on weekends, but still want to be cossetted in British luxury.”

The Bentayga touted as the fastest, most powerful, most luxurious, and most exclusive SUV in the world recetly arrived in Manila. Titans of industry, clients, and friends from various fields gathered at Bentley Manila to witness the launch of Bentley’s industry-defining ultra-luxury SUV.

Named after the Roque Bentayga, a 4,642-foot mountain peak on Spain’s Grand Canary Island, this ultra-luxury SUV is unrestrained by climate or terrain, and combines unparalleled luxury with sporting ability, off-road performance, and everyday usability.

Robert Coyiuto Jr., chairman of PGA Group, along with Benedicto Coyiuto, Bentley Manila’s director, led the unveiling of this extraordinary ultra-luxury SUV. The opening remarks were given by Mike Moon, trade and investment director of British Embassy Manila, while Bentley Manila director Benedicto Coyiuto delivered the welcome remarks.

“The Bentayga is definitely the supreme luxury SUV in the market today,” added Coyiuto. “It is the only SUV of its kind; Bentley has even created its own segment for it — the ultra-luxury SUV category. The Bentayga is peerless, and that is no exaggeration. It is in its own class, with no competitor, and with no equal.”

Coyiuto belives that the ultra-luxury SUV is meant for the whole family. The Bentayga offers sophisticated elegance and opulence. It is supremely refined, and is meant to pamper its passengers.

“Powerful, luxurious, and exclusive,” says Coyiuto when asked to give three words that best describe the Bentayga.

THE HEART OF LUXURY

Just what makes the Bentley Bentayga’s engine beat?

The Bentayga W12 is equiped with an all-new, twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter W12 engine. With 600 bhp and 900 Nm of torque on tap, the W12 delivers a 0-100 km/h time of 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 301 km/h, making the Bentayga the world’s most powerful and fastest SUV.

Designed, engineered, and handcrafted in Crewe, England, the Bentayga is pure Bentley. Sculpted with an elegant, timeless design, it perfectly balances athleticism with presence and confidence. From the four round LED headlamps and large matrix grille, to the distinctive power line and muscular haunches, the Bentley DNA is apparent throughout the Bentayga.

What made the launch of the Bentayga extra special was that guests were given a chance to see and feel the opulence offered by the Bentayga. With unrivalled levels of craftsmanship and precision, the Bentayga boasts one of the world’s finest automotive cabins. Guests saw for themselves the interior’s intricate detailing in metal, wood, and leather – including meticulous tolerances between elements of trim – all of which create a bespoke, exquisitely luxurious handcrafted interior that is the epitome of modern British luxury. This level of perfection is only achievable thanks to the exceptional craft and skill of Bentley’s team in Crewe, England.

TIME TO CELEBRATE

The evening was made even yummier with canapes and bread from Paul, cognac from Hennessey, and champagne from Moët & Chandon while furniture from Casa Bella were for guests to relax on at the lounge.

A sumptuous five-course dinner was from Ruby Jack’s included someof the best steaks in the world.

The launch was truly a special event — for a vehicle like the Bentayga comes around only once in a car-lover’s lifetime.

Bentley’s extraordinary SUV has been conceived and crafted to open up a new realm of luxury, performance, and go-anywhere ability previously unheard of in the automotive industry. By reassessing the luxury SUV segment, Bentley has reshaped, and ultimately, has redefined it to create an ultra-luxury vehicle designed to take its occupants to extraordinary places.

The Bentayga is an extraordinary vehicle, and seeing one – more so getting inside of it – is already an occasion in itself. But it’s not about the destination – it’s more about how one is brought there. With the Bentley Bentayga, even the journey becomes extraordinary.

The fastest, most powerful, most luxurious, and most exclusive SUV in the world is now in Manila – the pride of Crewe, England, the Bentley Bentayga.

The Bentley Bentayga has been named as the 2016 SUV of the Year by Robb Report UK, with the panel of automotive experts from the said leading luxury title singling out the Bentayga for being truly ground-breaking.

“The Bentayga creates a whole new segment – the ultra-luxury SUV. It far exceeds the nature of other luxury SUVs in every respect. Where else in the world would you find such craftsmanship, other than the workshop in Crewe?”

Autocar Magazine UK’s Game Changer Award bestowed upon the Bentayga

Honouring vehicles that set new standards and defy convention, Autocar Magazine UK, another revered British car publication, bestowed upon the Bentayga its Game Changer Award, recognising the Bentayga as a “defining moment in the automotive world” for its unique and impeccable combination of luxury, performance, versatility, and go- anywhere ability.

Autocar Editor, Jim Holder, said: “The Bentayga proves that luxury, performance, and SUV versatility can go hand in hand. It is the only, and by definition, the best luxury 4x4.” Holder continued, “The Bentayga’s launch is a testament to the visionary conviction of the men and women at the head of the company who are now reaping the rewards of bulging order books.”

With this accolade, Wolfgang Dürheimer, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bentley Motors, said: “From day one, we made a commitment to create an extraordinary new Bentley, with no compromises. The Bentayga delivers a genuine Bentley driving experience in any environment, and this award recognises the dedication and skill we have at our headquarters in Crewe.” Standard Equipment on the Bentayga An all-new chassis system allows the Bentayga to take luxury to new places, with dedicated off-road modes for snow, sand, grass, and trails. This ultra-luxury SUV combines power, luxury, exclusivity, practicality, and technological prowess, with the capability to impose itself on challenging terrains. The Bentayga offers a wide range of on- and off-road drive settings through Bentley’s Drive Dynamics Mode, letting drivers select the perfect dynamic set-up for any surface or road condition at the simple turn of a dial. The Driver Information Panel, on the other hand, displays information on pitch, roll, wheel articulation, steering angle, compass bearing, and altitude.

Like all Bentleys, the Bentayga is equipped with the multi-mode air suspension, which, in this application, has four different modes: High 2, High 1, Normal, and Low. For instance, High 2 can be chosen manually when tackling more severe off-road surfaces, while to ease loading and trailer hitching, customers can lower the rear suspension through the switch in the boot.

The Bentayga also features a panoramic glass roof, which constitutes 60% of the total roof surface.

The development programme for the Bentayga was the most extensive in Bentley’s history, resulting in the creation of the ultra-luxury SUV segment. In high demand since Bentley’s announcement of its release of an all-new, go-anywhere, ultra-luxury vehicle, the Bentayga has attracted new customers from around the world to the esteemed British car brand.

Bentley, through one of its board members, added: “The Bentayga is the Bentley of SUVs. It redefines luxury in the SUV sector, and offers a genuine Bentley experience in any environment, thanks to a combination of unparalleled attention to detail, go-anywhere ability, and cutting-edge technology.”

“The Bentayga is an extraordinary vehicle and seeing one – more so getting inside of it – is already an occasion in itself,” quipped Coyiuto. “But it’s not about the destination – it’s more about how one is brought there. With the Bentley Bentayga, even the journey becomes extraordinary.”
