First-ever transport hub & mixed-use mall rise at old InterCon

-

Ayala Land Inc. ( ALI) recently announced that it is building One Ayala, a mixed-use complex with a first-of-itskind intermodal transport hub at the corner of Ayala Avenue and EDSA. The transport hub is the focal point of the development and all its other uses were planned around it. To ease traffic on EDSA, the new complex is designed for buses to move through the hub to dropoff and pick-up passengers and no longer stop along EDSA-Ayala.

“For the Filipino commuter, especially those who live and work in the Makati CBD, this development will mean a more efficient and comfortable travel to various destinations, similar to what commuters in Hong Kong and Singapore experience,” said Manny Blas, ALI vice president and head of operations for Makati CBD.

Connected through a network of covered walkways, One Ayala will feature a regional mall with dining, shopping and recreational offerings for the fast-paced yet balanced lifestyle of next-generation office workers. The mall will likewise have a trade hall — the first in Makati — for exhibits and events.

Completing the mixed-use block will be an office tower designed to comply with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design or LEED standards, a 300-unit condominium-for-lease tower, and a flagship 600-room Seda hotel.

The intermodal transport hub will make space for different transportation options, such as city buses, point-to-point buses, the future bus rapid transit, Asian utility vehicles (AUV), and the MRT Line 3. The three-level facility will allocate the ground floor to buses, the second level to the MRT station, and the basement for AUVs. It will facilitate a 24/7, well-organized and reliable system for a safe and convenient commute.

“We strive to set the platform for one to live a better life by building well-planned communities that are pedestrianfriendly, transit connected, and filled with opportunities to prosper,” added Blas. “One Ayala and its offer to provide a pleasant, safe and convenient facility for commuters support ALI’s continuing vision to create sustainable estates with all the aspects needed to improve quality of life for many Filipinos.”

Through the years, the country’s leading developer of sustainable estates has been committed to “enhancing land and enriching lives for more people.” ALI’s well-integrated communities, with its diverse mix of properties, such as residences, shopping centers, offices, hotels and leisure developments, thrive as centers of business activity and become catalysts of economic development.

Planned for completion by 2020, One Ayala will soon set new standards in transit-oriented developments. It is an integral part of the ongoing revitalization initiatives for Makati.

Allocating the city’s most prime parcel for One Ayala, ALI further underscores its objective to benefit a broader market. It creates for the Makati CBD its most appropriate frontage — one that is more welcoming and serves the needs of a larger working population.
