Hanabishi marks 30th anniversary; awards college scholarships to employees’ children
After making an impact to the local home appliance industry for the past three decades, Hanabishi marks its 30th anniversary with a celebration for its employees and partners last Oct. 13, 2016 at the Peninsula Manila Hotel.
Celebrating the milestone with the people behind the brand’s success, Hanabishi executives shared the company’s story from its humble beginnings to being the number one homegrown appliance brand in the country today. “This success would not have been possible without the unwavering help of our loyal and hardworking employees. We owe so much of this achievement to our people,” said Hanabishi President Jasper Ong.
To show their appreciation and to recognize the invaluable contribution of their workers to the company, Ong and other Hanabishi executives awarded full college scholarships to children of three loyal employees during the celebration.
Teary-eyed parents expressed their gratitude to Hanabishi for the education grant bestowed to their children. The students shared not only how thankful they are to Hanabishi, but their pride as well, for being children of very dedicated and hardworking parents.
A gift of hope and education
Edgar Cuerda, who has been working for more than 20 years at Hanabishi as a delivery truck driver, was one of the lucky parents in attendance. Cuerda narrated that he works very hard because he dreams of giving a decent life for his family and a bright future for his children.
When asked about how he feels on the scholarship
grant given to his son, he said, “Hindi namin inaasahan itong biyayang ito. Talagang masayang masaya kami dahil malaki ang maitutulong nito sa akin at sa aking pamilya. Lalo ko pang pagbubutihan ang pagtatrabaho ko dahil hindi ko kailanman masusuklian ang tulong na ito sa amin ng
Hanabishi (We did not expect this blessing at all. We are truly very happy because this scholarship will really help me and my family. This has inspired me to work even harder because I know that I can never repay this help from Hanabishi).”
Edgar Cuerda Jr., Cuerda’s 16-year-old son who currently lives in Aparri, Cagayan, expressed how happy he is about the scholarship and how proud he is of his father. “Proud na proud po ako kay Papa at mahal na mahal ko po siya. Kahit nakakalungkot kasi magkalayo kami dahil kailangan niyang magtrabaho dito sa Maynila, patuloy po niya kaming sinusuportahan, lalo na ang pag-aaral ko (I am very proud of my father and I love him very much. Although it is sad that we live away from each other because he has to work here in Manila, he continues to support me and my studies),” Cuerda, Jr. shared.
“Maraming salamat din po sa Hanabishi dahil malaking tulong po ito sa kinabukasan ko at ng pamilya ko.
Pinapangako ko po na mag-aaral po ako ng mabuti (Thank you very much to Hanabishi for this scholarship. This is really a big help for me and my family. I promise that I will study hard),” he added.
The scholarship grants awarded to the employees’ children will cover their four-year college tuition fees.
Ong shared, “We value our employees very much and this is just our little way of giving back for what they have sacrificed in order to help get us here. Their hard work and dedication make them our true partners and we believe that there would be no better way to show our heartfelt gratitude than by giving their children the gift of education. With these scholarships, we hope to help them achieve their dreams for their children and for their families.”
A brand with a heart
