The beauty residing in a kind soul transcends time and culture. In this woman’s eyes, one can see compassion; and in her voice, one can hear the passion to embark on a journey to a world of meaning and happiness.

Twenty- three-year- old Eurasian beauty Giulia Singson Zahar speaks fondly of her lifelong advocacy, which is to be of help to the country, especially the less fortunate.

While in the process of discovering herself, she also discovered that helping others is her life’s purpose. She currently volunteers at the Arnold Janssen Kalinga Center in Manila.

“My advocacy is to help the Philippines, especially the poor in my own little way. It would be amazing to help on a larger scale but I thought if everybody just did his or her own piece and contribute something then it would create a big impact,” says this 5 ft.-5 in. stunner of Italian-Filipino descent, who recently finished her Bachelor of Laws at the University of Manchester in England. She is also currently working with the Tutoring Club in Rockwell.

The daughter of renowned OB- Gyn and robotic surgeon Dr. Rebecca Singson, and Luciano Zahar, an administrator at the University of Trieste in Italy, Giulia treasures the lessons from her parents, which have helped shape her.

“My dad says that life is a school and nobody tells you how to live it. Every day, he is trying to find the best method on how to live life. The things I learned from him are priceless. He is a grounded individual, full of knowledge and wisdom,” Giulia lovingly shares.

“My mom would always say, ‘You have to go the extra mile. You have to give 110 percent in everything that you do.’ My mom is so inspiring just by being herself. She’s a ball of energy. She has the heart to help people,” she says.

Giulia, who is fond of traveling, exposes herself to activities that nourish her heart, mind and soul. She paints to express her creativity. For her dose of adrenaline and nature, she bikes and hikes. She also once climbed a mountain in Slovenia. Next year, she plans to cycle from the UK to Amsterdam with her friends.

Driven to always challenge herself and move outside her comfort zone, Giulia says living independently in England to pursue her Law studies (while her twin brother Giovanni was studying Aeronautical Engineering in Wales) opened her eyes to a lot of realizations in life. Studying and living independently abroad gave her a deeper appreciation for education, which she also advocates.

“I consider studying and living independently in England one of the turning points in my life but one cannot stop at a turning point. When you move out of your comfort zone, you discover new parts of yourself. What I live by every day is this, you need to push yourself, you need to keep growing.”

In Giulia’s kind heart and open mind, she finds happiness in simple moments, those little outbursts of joy that when put together will make life worth living.

“These are intangible things that remain when everything else has faded. It’s the time you spend loving your friends and family. It is the time you choose to be sensitive to the people around you and treasure the little blessings in your life. The little blessings are yours to be happy with,” she concludes.
