7,000 law graduates to take Bar exams today

Nearly 7,000 law graduates will take the 115th Bar examinatio­ns at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) over four Sundays of November starting today.

The 6,831 law graduates will take tests on eight subjects: Political Law, Civil Law, Taxation, Labor Law, Criminal Law, Remedial Law, Mercantile Law and Legal and Judicial Ethics.

Supreme Court Associate Justice Presbitero Velasco Jr., chairman of this year’s Bar exams committee, earlier announced that there might be two items in the exams for enumeratio­n and differenti­ation.

Meanwhile, the Manila Police District ( MPD) yesterday announced that portions of España Boulevard and other side streets near UST would be closed to traffic today for the Bar exam.

“Westbound lane of España Boulevard from A. H. Lacson Avenue to P. Noval Street will be closed from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 a. m. and again from 3: 00 p. m. to 7:00 p.m. today, Sunday. The stretch of Dapitan Street from A. H. Lacson Avenue to P. Noval Street will be closed to traffic from 10: 00 a. m. to 1: 00 p. m.,” MPD said in a traffic advisory.

“During the scheduled closure of the westbound lane of España Boulevard, the eastbound lane of España Boulevard shall be utilized as a two-way for both the westbound and eastbound vehicles.

“All vehicles intending to use Dapitan Street going to Quiapo shall go straight to A. H. Lacson Avenue, then turn right to España Boulevard to point of destinatio­n.

“All vehicles utilizing the stretch of Dapitan Street going to Quiapo shall turn right to A. H. Lacson Avenue, left to Aragon Street straight to A. Mendoza Avenue, to point of destinatio­n,” MPD added.

The MPD advised motorists coming from Nagtahan and intending to use Dapitan Street via A.H. Lacson Avenue to turn left to Aragon Street, straight to A. Mendoza Avenue to reach their point of destinatio­n.

The MPD also said parking is prohibited within the vicinity of UST. Areas included are España Boulevard, A.H. Lacson Avenue, Dapitan Street and P. Noval Street.

Contingenc­y measures are also in place in case of inclement weather during the exams . –
