Paint it forward

-

“Paint it Forward” is a fund-raising project of the Hontiveros family for a feeding program of the Lantangan Elementary School in Pontevedra, Capiz. The project is headed by Jackie Hontiveros Lozano, a painter and teacher at the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts, who has donated two oil paintings from her 2016 series called “Sea of Dreams” for an auction and raffle. All proceeds will go directly to the feeding program.

The school has a present enrolment of 345 children from low income families who can hardly afford proper nutrition and transportation for their children. At present, there are 63 severely malnourished children who are provided with daily lunch sponsored by DepEd. However, the remaining 282 students are also malnourished and need nutritional support.

The family is starting a mid-day feeding program for all 345 students. With an initial daily budget of P10/

student for a nutritious mid-day meal, P434,700 is needed to fund the program for the remaining school year. Parent volunteers will be trained to handle the feeding program from procurement, cooking, distribution and maintenance, with the assistance of teachers.

The auction and raffle will be concluded and announced during the awards ceremony of the 14th Riley Cup Tournament at the Calatagan Golf Club on Nov. 19.

Sea of Dreams VI is up for auction at the Riley Cup Golf Tournament. Silent sealed bids will be accepted from nonparticipants until Nov. 18. There will be a public bidding during the Riley Cup awards ceremony, after which the silent bids will be opened to see if there is a higher bid.

Direct donations to the feeding program gives you a chance to win the raffle of Sea of Dreams V. Each P1,000 donated will entitle you to one raffle ticket. Contributions can be given through bank deposit or check until Nov. 18.
