BGC sets Passionfest, Arts Center festival
Starting today, the streets of Bonifacio Global City will come alive with a grand, colorful parade celebrating our Filipino roots, a series of lively street dances, variety shows, a string of exciting games and workshops, plus sumptuous food for the BGC community and guests to feast on.
BGC Passionfest is an annual celebration of all things Filipino, held in homage to the life of the hero Andres Bonifacio. It aims to rekindle the Filipino spirit and elicit a renewed sense of pride in being Filipino. And what better way to celebrate being Filipino than having a street fiesta?
The city’s fun-filled celebration, now on its fifth straight year, runs until Sunday, Nov. 27 in Bonifacio High Street and the city center.
Don’t miss this year’s giant Slidefest and take part in activities such as the wacky obstacle race, tangram, ring toss, plus bike lessons for the young and the young-atheart! Also witness special performances from Globe Live’s Christmas Symphonies, The Mind Museum’s Science Circus Show and many more artists!
Your pets are also part of this year’s fun. Reveal your furry friends’ skills, dress them up in the cutest way possible and register them for the Doggie Olympics to showcase their skills.
Catch the festivities from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
This year’s celebration will revolve around the theme “Bayanihan Fiesta” and will celebrate the Filipino’s unique spirit of communal unity and cooperation despite trying times.
Coinciding with this year’s Passionfest is an arts festival that will highlight the newly-constructed BGC Arts Center.
BAFI’s art program manager Monica Llamas-Garcia says: “The festival will showcase the inspired spaces of this newest structure that will host art performances, exhibitions, and other forms of artistic expression.”
The BGC Arts Center is made up of three main structures: the Maybank Performing Arts Theater, the Alveo Central Plaza and the SunLife Amphitheater.
The Maybank Performing Arts Theater will be the home of three large performance spaces – the Globe Auditorium with a maximum seating capacity of 500; the Zobel de Ayala Recital Hall that can seat about 100 and the Exhibit Hall on the third floor of the arts theater.
The BGC Arts Center will open to the public on Dec. 1.
BGC Passionfest and the BGC Arts Center Festival are just two of the fun activities that jumpstart exciting days ahead in BGC. A wave of hearty, special events will come your way as the Christmas season begins.
