President Duterte has approved the promotion of eight ranking police officials, including National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Oscar Albayalde and Quezon City Police District (QCPD) chief Guillermo Eleazar.

Albayalde was promoted to the rank of Director – he is now a two-star general – while Eleazar was promoted to Chief Superintendent, a copy of the letter signed by Duterte and sent to the office of Interior Secretary Ismael Sueno showed.

Also promoted to the rank of Senior Superintendent were Glenn Dumlao, Jason Ortizo, Albert Magno, Cecilio Ison Jr., Clint Bayagsan and Marion Balonglong.

The document was posted yesterday on the official Facebook page of the QCPD police community relations division.

In an interview, Albayalde said “this promotion is one way of boosting the morale of the (Philippine Naitonal Police or PNP).” He vowed to intensify the police’s “relentless and resolute” campaign against illegal drugs in the metropolis.

Albayalde was the former deputy director of the Directorate for Plans at the NCRPO. He belongs to Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class ’86, the same as PNP chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa.

Eleazar, in a phone interview with The STAR, reiterated his commitment to ensure peace and security in the city and reaffirmed his pledge to support the anti-crime initiatives of the administration.

A member of PMA Class ’87, Eleazar previously headed the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group prior to his designation to the QCPD in July. –
