Dominic Rubio and Lydia Velasco at SM Megamall Art Center

-

Dominic Rubio and Lydia Velasco — heirs of the mantle of Modernism — will be holding a two-man exhibition at the SM Megamall Art Center starting tomorrow. The exhibition, titled “Duo: Dominic Rubio and Lydia Velasco,” will feature new works that represent the best of these two renowned artists.

Dominic Rubio, fresh off a successful unveiling of a large mural for the Philippine Embassy in Washington DC, is known for his colonial landscapes and trademark elongation of the neck for his subjects. Lydia Velasco, on the other hand, is known for her unique depiction of female figures in lush garden settings.

The exhibition is a comprehensive way for the public to survey the practice of these two artists. It is also a way to celebrate the Modernist aesthetic, through an exhibition of works by its contemporary champions.

“Duo: Dominic Rubio and Lydia Velasco” opens tomorrow, Dec. 6, at 6 p.m. and runs until Dec. 17 at the SM Megamall Art Center, 4/F Art Walk, SM Megamall A, Mandaluyong City. For information, call 570-9495, or 723-9418.
