Season of luxe

- by LUIS ESPIRITU, JR.

Holiday shopping is madness especially now that Christmas is just around the corner.

Though global fashion presents the season of celebration in decadence, luxury sets a refreshing perspective on understated refinement. Quiet elegance need not bling it on this Christmas as it presents dressing up the holidays with the most casual of outfits to make a breezy statement of modern luxe.

This season, Rustan’s Department Store gives a toast to minimalism. In-house brands Ricardo Preto and U are stylesetting the market with a fashion-forward code of dressing. Quiet elegance unfolds in desert tones and subdued pastels are mixed with updated neutrals. The current mood swings with pieces of the season that are practical day-to-night essentials. Modern street style perceptions revel masculine and feminine fashion through new denims, fabrics and distinct contemporary yet understated prints. Up-to-date silhouettes are relaxed and unwind in modern easy lightweight separates that define the look of now. The new fashion memo of smart dressing showcases a season filled with a wardrobe of ideas that spills over into the forecasts for 2017.

Shopping for the look of minimum in Rustan’s Department Store can lead to a luxurious offering of rewards. Between now and Dec. 31, every P3,000 single-receipt purchase entitles a shopper to one e-raffle entry to the Rustan’s Wonders of the World (WOW) promotion. One can have the chance to win a remarkable trip with a friend to New York, Paris or a family vacation in Malaysia with free accommodations and Business Class tickets courtesy of Philippine Airlines.

The trip to New York treats the lucky winner to a threenight stay at The Peninsula New York, with a complimentary American Breakfast and 60-minute spa service for two and a visit to the Tiffany & Co. flagship store on 5th Avenue.

The trip to France welcomes a stay at Chateau Hochberg, a luxe and conceptual setting developed by Lalique Interior Design Studio. Included, too, is a tour to Villa René Lalique, home of the illustrious designer where a gastronomic treat unfolds at the villa’s two-Michelin Star restaurant with a menu created by three-Michelin Star chef Jean- Georges Klein and head sommelier Romain Iltis.

For families, a luxurious getaway to Legoland Malaysia Resort awaits. A group of four will be jetted off on Business Class via Philippine Airlines flight to Singapore, and brought by superior coach transfer to Johor Bahru, Malaysia. A three-day/ two-night stay awaits at Legoland Hotel, with VIP expeditions at both Legoland Theme Park.

‘Tis the season to embrace the understatement of fashion and get a chance to win a luxurious statement. The stylish looks for the easy holidays practically transcend from this season to the next. Rustan’s Yuletide offerings are taking the lead in contemporary practical fashion with timeless choices that will keep you merry the whole year through.
