Cop, 3 other drug suspects slain

A member of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) and three others allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade were killed in separate incidents in Metro Manila since Friday.

Senior Police Officer 1 Herbert Lumabi, 44, of the QCPD’s Traffic Sector 1, was slain by his fellow policemen in a drug sting along Panopio street in Barangay Pasong Tamo at around 3 p.m.

QCPD director Chief Superinten­dent Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar said Lumabi has been involved in drug pushing.

Lumabi allegedly drew his .45-caliber firearm when he noticed the presence of law enforcers shortly after he handed over a sachet of shabu to a policeman who posed as a buyer.

Lumabi died from multiple gunshots to the body at the East Avenue Medical Center.

His unidentifi­ed companion managed to escape.

Police said they recovered shabu, a 9mm pistol and a .45-caliber revolver from Lumabi.

In Malabon City, a former executive officer of Barangay Tugatog allegedly involved in illegal drugs was shot dead by suspected vigilantes at 7 a.m. on Friday.

Reynaldo de la Cruz, 57, was on a motorcycle on his way home when two unidentifi­ed assailants blocked his path along M.H. del Pilar street and fired at him.

De la Cruz died on the spot from gunshots to the body.

A piece of paper, which read “pusher ako, huwag

tularan, susunod ka na (I am a pusher, don’t imitate, you’re next) was found near Dela Cruz’s remains.

Police said they recovered a sachet of shabu from De la Cruz.

Another drug suspect was slain by motorcycle-riding gunmen in Mandaluyon­g City.

Liwayway Yabut alias Pilay was standing in front of a store along Kalentong street when four unidentifi­ed assailants on two motorcycle­s opened fire at her, Eastern Police District director Chief Superinten­dent Romulo Sapitula said.

Yabut died at the scene from gunshots to the body.

Sapitula said Yabut was on the drug watchlist.

In Manila, a suspected drug peddler died and two others were arrested in separate police operations yesterday.

Delfin Sicson, 59, was killed after he allegedly engaged members of the Manila Police District (MPD) antiillega­l drug unit in a shootout at his house along Oro street in Sta. Ana at past 2 a.m.

Police said they were able to buy P200 worth of shabu from Sicson prior to the gunfight.

Sicson was rushed to the Sta. Ana Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Sicson reportedly yielded a .22-caliber revolver, 13 sachets of shabu, drug parapherna­lia and the marked money.

Renmark Domanais, 26, and pedicab driver Abenigo Verdida, 46, were apprehende­d by operatives of the MPD Station 1 in a sting in Tondo at around 9 a.m.

Police said they seized six sachets of shabu with an estimated street value of P3,000 from the suspects.

Domanais and Verdida are being held at the MPD detention cell on drug charges. –
