Over P11-M shabu seized in stings; 13 nabbed

Thirteen more drug suspects were arrested and over P11 million worth of shabu were seized in separate police operations in the past three days.

Josehel de Jesus, 28, and Roljoy Rosette, 32, were arrested for selling around 2.5 kilos of shabu worth P11.2 million to undercover agents in Barangay Carreta in Cebu City on Friday night, said Senior Superinten­dent Edgar Cacayan, Criminal Investigat­ion and Detection Group director in Central Visayas.

An investigat­ion is under- way to determine where the suspects source the illegal drugs.

Ronald Magbag, 34, and Jason Oliver 32, were nabbed for allegedly selling shabu worth P50,000 during a sting in Barangay Andres Bonifacio in Baguio City also on Friday.

Juvenal Azurin, director of the Philippine Drug Enforcemen­t Agency in Cordillera, said the suspects are members of a drug ring operating in the cities of Baguio and Olongapo.

Aldrin Garay was nabbed during a raid on his house in Barangay Camcaman in Matnog, Sorsogon on Thursday. He was ranked seventh on the town’s drug watchlist.

Jeboy Nicolas, who was ranked fourth on the drug watchlist of Bulan in Sorsogon, was arrested in Barangay Obrero yesterday.

‘Narco’ cops

Meanwhile, 13 more police officers in the Negros Island Region suspected of involvemen­t in the illegal drug trade have been relieved from their posts.

In Caraga region, Police Officer 1 Arnel Galve and PO2 Ronie Capanpan were arrested in a drug sting at a lodging house in Surigao City at around 2:45 p.m. on Friday.

SPO1 Valliante Flores of the Davao City police and five other persons were arrested in Tandag City on Thursday.

The suspects reportedly yielded several sachets of shabu and marked money.
