For your wagyu fix

-

I frequent Wagyu Japanese Beef, a restaurant at Sunvar Plaza in Makati City. Recently, I found out about its new branch in Bonifacio Global City and the omakase menus it presents monthly.

Aside f rom the same quality of beef and the same dishes that can be ordered at the restaurant’s Sunvar branch, the BGC branch actually has more than just beef to offer in its menu. The new branch has several varieties of Japanese beef including three of my favorites: Saga, Kagoshima and Ohmi.

Japanese chef Go- Okura is exclusive to the BGC branch, where he prepares sashimi, sushi and seafood dishes not available in the Sunvar branch.

Restaurant owners and sisters Clariza Chia Siy and Dr. Cathy Chia- Chua explained that the omakase served only in their BGC branch usually consists of seven to 12 dishe s. The menu changes depending on what i ng redient s a re available locally.

The re st au r ant ha s a Christmas omakase menu that includes roast beef salad, wagyu roll with cabbage, sashimi, crab cream croquette,

chawanmushi, lapu-lapu acqua pazza, stone-grilled wagyu, garlic rice and dessert. Musttry dishes (aside from the grilled beef and the beef sushi) are the wagyu yukke, which is raw seasoned beef with an egg (think of a Japanese version of tartare), the Kobe beef cold salad wrap with ponzu gelee and the beef sisig! (Check out Wagyu Japanese Beef’s second branch at Unit A3 & B4 Burgos Park Building, Forbestown Center, Forbestown Road, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
