Barbie torn among 4 leading men

- By Bot Glorioso

Barbie Forteza finds it hard to choose who among Ken Chan, Jak Roberto, Ivan Dorschner and Addy Raj can possibly make her heart giddy and maybe later on, make her fall in love again. The four guys are her leading men in the latest GMA primetime series Meant To Be that is set to premiere on Jan. 9.

“Well, it is a no-no to be biased. I should treat them all fairly. Honestly, it’s so overwhelming to have four leading men,” says Barbie with her infectious laughter.

Even on the set while on taping breaks, Barbie makes it a point to give equal attention to the four guys and know them well. That’s why, she can easily describe each guy based on their personality. For her, Jak is the mysterious one “because we get to talk often on the set and sometimes when I say something to him, he’ll just look at me without saying anything. I don’t know what was on his mind or if he understood what I was telling to him.”

Addy, on the other hand, is clingy. Barbie reveals that she has been receiving text messages from Addy at the wee hours of the morning. “Imagine, at 3 a.m. nakakaloka! O, di ba clingy? ( laughs).” But Addy explains that being a newcomer in showbiz, he only has few friends whom he can talk to.

Curious minds want to know his message to Barbie and she quips, “Indian (language) eh, I don’t know. I love you? Hahaha!”

The 19-yearold Kapuso actress never forgets how Ken is able to deliver every character that is given him. “Mahusay is a perfect description for him.”

How about Ivan? Well, Barbie seems to blush as she shares that Ivan is sweet. Observers say that Barbie has the “kilig factor” with the Fil-Am hunk since their pictorial for the show.

“And why shouldn’t I be? Have you ever been looked at straight in the eye by Ivan? You don’t know how hard it was! Hahaha!” exclaims Barbie who seems to exude nothing but good vibes.

Even director LA Madridejos is amazed at how the actress is able to maintain the high level of energy and vivacity whether on- or off-cam. No wonder, he can’t help but jokingly describe Barbie as “parang naka- drugs.”

Direk LA continues, “Because I have already worked with two other young stars — Joyce Ching and Bea Binene. I already found Joyce hyper and Bea was much hyper. Then with Barbie, you multiply by 10 the level of energy of the two stars and that’s the kind of energy Barbie has.”

Barbie is quick to say that she is not and will never be into drugs. “Malinis na malinis po ako.”

“Aside from her possessing a positive outlook in life which effortlessly makes her always jolly, Barbie can easily shift from being funny to serious whenever the scene requires her to,” says direk LA. “For the Billie role, we need to choose someone who is so bubbly and at the same time is able to handle an affecting moment with her parents; ‘yung mato- touch ka. Si Barbie,

kaya din n’yang magpakilig, ‘yung age n’ya ngayon ang sarap kiligin.”

Her happy disposition makes her perfect as Billie, the good daughter who will do everything for her family.

“I can relate to my character because here we tackle real family issues. Like my character Billie, I am also a breadwinner in real life and supporting my family in whatever way I can,” says Barbie on what attracts her to the role. “I am doing everything for my family because it is my way of making them feel how much I love and care for them. Hindi ko makakalimutan kung paano nila ako sinuportahan sa lahat ng gusto kong gawin mula noon at nung nag-uumpisa pa

lang ako sa showbiz.” But it is not all work for Barbie. In fact, she is able to keep a balance between PG work and school. She proudly 12:05, 2:35, 5:05, 7:35 shares that she is now taking 10:05 up Psychology at the University of Perpetual Help System in Biñan, Laguna as a freshman. Her initial plan of enrolling in Criminology didn’t push through since there were several requirements that she could not promise to INCARNATEcomplete. PG

“First, I need to have a daily 12:40, attendance3:00, 5:20 which I can’t really do. 7:40, Then, 10:00 there’s physical training at hindi ko rin

kaya ‘yun kaya mas time-friendly sa kin ‘yung AB Psychology since it doesn’t ROUGE ONE: require me to attend classes regularly. A STAR WARS But it’s almost STORYthe sameIN ATMOS because when the time comes that PGI want 12:50, 3:50, 6:50 to pursue the course further, I can 9:50 take up Forensic Psychology abroad and that is still under Forensic Science which is the main reason why I initially wanted to enroll in Criminology,” says Barbie who goes to school twice a week. ( Meant To Be also stars Gloria Romero, Keempee de Leon, Manilyn Reynes, Sheryl Cruz, Tina Paner, Sef Cadayona, Mika dela Cruz, Stephanie Sol and Zymic Jaranilla.)
