Cavitex Infrastructure Corp to start construction of C-5 South Link

Metro Pacific Investments Corp. ( MPIC) unit Cavitex Infrastructure Corp. (CIC) is looking to begin construction of the first phase of the C- 5 South Link Expressway by next month.

“The remaining issues are right of way and the construction traffic management with Citra or SOMCO ( Skyway O&M Corp.). With the help of TRB (Toll Regulatory Board), we are ready to start construction next month,” CIC president Luigi Bautista said in a text message.

The 7.7-kilometer (km) six lane C-5 South Link Expressway would connect the C-5 Road to the Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway (Cavitex) which is operated by the CIC.

Phase 1 will cover a flyover to link C-5 Road in Taguig to Merville in Sucat, Parañaque which costs P2.5 billion.

Phase 2, meanwhile, will cover Merville to Coastal Road (Cavitex) and is estimated to cost around P7.5 billion.

Construction for Phase 1 was initially expected to start in July last year.

CIC has yet to start construction works as it needs to obtain a no-objection to the project from Skyway operator SOMCO.

Earlier, CIC said the project could be completed by 2020.

Once completed, the C- 5 South Link would cater to those coming from Cavite, Las Piñas and parts of Parañaque by providing a direct link to and from C-5 to Cavitex.

“C-5 South Link is part of the solution to the traffic congestion in Parañaque, Las Piñas and Metro Manila in general,” Bautista said.

The project will also provide a seamless connection to the 45km Cavite-Laguna Expressway awarded to MPIC under the public-private partnership program and is slated for completion in 2020.
