Miss U beauties provide pass for fans

-

Miss Universe 2015 second runner-up Olivia Jordan and Miss Universe 2014 first runner-up Nia Sanchez are providing Smart subscribers upclose stories and backstage drama from the Miss Universe 2016 pre-pageant events and coronation night.

“We’re just so excited to post updates about the pageant on our Facebook Live,

Instagram and other social media accounts,” said Jordan.

Sanchez echoed, “We will make sure you get glimpses and behind-the-scenes as we plan to go to the rehearsals and see the girls.”

Both beauty queens thought this year’s candidates are showcasing a whole new level of competitiveness and they credit that observation to reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach. “They are so fierce. Maybe it’s because Pia is like that and she has definitely raised the bar for the next winner,” said Sanchez.

Jordan, who was Wurtzbach’s roommate and close friend, said they connected with each other because they were one of the “older girls in our batch and we both know how it was to lose in pageants before.”

She added, “It has been a joy to watch Pia during her reign. She has inspired me so much. I have been lucky to know her because she is so inspirational and kind and she has been an incredible Miss Universe. The next one will have big shoes to fill! It’s nice to come back year later and just cheer for Pia.”

Last Wednesday, Jordan and Sanchez dropped by the Smart Tower where they sampled Filipino food and enjoyed Jollibee’s Chickenjoy very much. They also met with PLDT-Smart chairman Manny V. Pangilinan who made sure the girls stay connected while in the country.

Shawn McClain, VP of Business Development and Marketing of the Miss Universe Organization, said that “the local (pageant) fandom in the Philippines is something to look forward to and using the Smart-PLDT infrastructure is so important when it comes to actually making things happen. No one thinks about them but it’s actually the behindthe-scene stuff that keeps the Filipinos engaged. And believe me out of every country we’ve been to, in terms of the social media engagement, Filipinos rank No. 1.”

Apart from behind-thescenes access via Smart Life, Smart’s official Facebook,

Instagram and Twitter, Smart is giving away pre-pageant tickets, dress rehearsal passes and much-coveted coronation night tickets to lucky subscribers. To find out how to to join and win, follow #SmartMissU.
