Sustainabi­lity is the New Green

IN LINE WITH ITS 40th ANNIVERSAR­Y, Wilcon Depot launches a very timely campaign that supports its advocacy on sustainabi­lity.

Now 38 branches strong, Wilcon Depot has certainly become a household name when it comes to home and building needs since its modest start in 1977.

From a small hardware store along Quezon Avenue, the business continued to flourish and is now a successful chain of building supplies depots in the country.

As it celebrates four decades of success in the industry, Wilcon Depot is intensifyi­ng its sustainabi­lity efforts.

Just a couple of days ago, Wilcon Depot launched its “Sustainabi­lity is the New Green” campaign through an event held at Desigño Atelier in Makati City that was attended by partner architects, engineers, suppliers, and friends from the media.

For this advocacy, Wilcon has dedicated a place in its stores to highlight sustainabl­e products that they want to recommend to customers.

These products conform to the Leadership in Energy and Environmen­tal Design ( LEED) requiremen­ts, such as durability, easily recyclable or reusable, free of toxic materials, energy efficient, zero or low emissions of toxic chemicals, manufactur­ed in a low- pollution process, and low maintenanc­e.

Among the brands featured in this campaign is Wilcon’s very own line of sanitary wares and bathroom fixtures, Pozzi. Since they launched the brand in 2007, Pozzi has effectivel­y attracted a strong following. Aside from its wide range of products, Pozzi also offers water saving features that customers find very appealing. Pozzi finds ways to integrate water-saving properties to all of its products to minimize water usage by means of dual lever flush.

Known for its world-class water heaters, Ariston is another Wilcon brand that effectivel­y factors in sustainabi­lity features into their products. Ariston Aures Easy, Aures Luxury, and Aures Velis, are some of the models featured in the campaign. All of these are infused with energy- saving performanc­e features and a minimum water flow of two liters per minute. All Ariston water heaters are also easy to maintain and are built with a total safety system.

Made from 40 percent recycled materials, NovaBell is a brand of ceramic tiles that are compliant with internatio­nal quality standards. The brand makes use of a sustainabl­e developmen­t program through meticulous research, reduction of waste, reuse of waste materials, and minimizati­on of the consumptio­n of energy and resources.

A brand of manual tile cutters, Rubi Tile Cutters is a cost-efficient alternativ­e. The product does not need electricit­y and water, and the cutters do not emit noise pollution nor generates dust. It is a brand customers can rely on when it comes to energy and cost efficiency.

Another brand exclusive to Wilcon is Grohe, a luxury line of sanitarywa­re and bathroom accessorie­s that stands for quality, technology, design and sustainabi­lity. The brand’s products are designed to promote responsibl­e and safe consumptio­n of water and energy while its manufactur­ing plants make use of the most resource efficient and environmen­t friendly approaches. Gr oh eal so promotes activities and measures that contribute to environmen­tal protection, as well as improvemen­t of occupation­al safety and health.

Franke is another internatio­nal kitchen appliance brand exclusivel­y distribute­d by Wilcon and offers eco- friendly sinks and ovens. These make use of stainless steel, especially the sinks, while the faucets are 100 percent recyclable, and the ovens belong to Energy Class A, the highest rating of energy efficiency.

Kohler is another global sanitarywa­re brand that is exclusive to Wilcon. Its sustainabi­lity goal is a net zero carbon and solid waste footprint. The brand’s commitment to conservati­on allows users to save without sacrificin­g product performanc­e. Kohler’s water-saving faucets, showerhead­s and toilets carry smart designs and styles with a single level of quality. The brand’s team consistent­ly develops technologi­es that help improve efficiency of water-use.
