DLSMC offers PhilHealth’s Z package for kidney transplant
De Los Santos Medical Center, a subsidiary of Manuel V. Pangilinan’s MVP Group of Companies under the Metro Pacific Hospital Holdings Inc. banner, recently became the first private Level 3 hospital located in Quezon City to be recognized as a PhilHealthcontracted institutional healthcare provider of specialized care for End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) requiring kidney transplantation.
As such, the hospital can now offer the Z Benefit Package for kidney transplantation. Under this package, PhilHealth will cover half of the hospital expenses incurred as a result of the transplant procedure.
“Qualified PhilHealth members and dependents with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) or ESRD can now look forward to a new lease on life with this new development,” commented Nilo De Los Santos, VP for medical affairs and chief medical officer of De Los Santos Med.
The Z Benefit Package was created for all eligible PhilHealth members and their dependents – specifically the underprivileged ones – to have a better opportunity for survival from “catastrophic” illnesses such as CKD and ESRD (also known as kidney failure).
In kidney transplantation, a patient will receive a healthy kidney from a willing and compatible donor. This procedure is now considered a treatment of choice for patients suffering from kidney failure as it offers them the best chance to have a more normal way of life.
