Golden Cowrie Filipino Kitchen opens at S Maison

With restaurants all over Visayas and Mindanao, Golden Cowrie has become a household name in the region. Last year, the premier brand crossed over to Luzon through the launch of Hukad sa Golden Cowrie in Trinoma and Golden Cowrie Filipino Kitchen at the upscale S Maison at Conrad.

“Our selection consists of traditional flavors that stir memories of the past and those that provide a glimpse of where our cuisine can go in the future,” director for product development, Kristine De La Riva-Kokseng said.

Among the Pinoy staples that they serve are sinigang na hipon, grilled tuna belly, adobong talong, and pork sisig, definitely comfort food for many. Their authentic lechon Cebu and baked Bantayan scallops are favorites that keep customers coming back.

Re-invented menu items include the miki negra (miki noodles in a unique squid ink sauce, topped with crunchy squid chops), pomelo salad (pomelo and singkamas in a calamansi-based dressing, topped with crunchy dried squid), and pinaupong manok (bathed in hot oil, cooked in salt, and other secret spices).

“We’d like to refer to them as ‘refreshingly Filipino’. We like working on something familiar and give it a tweak here and there to make it more interesting but still keep it recognizable,” De La RivaKokseng said.
