The Philippine Star

BYE back again for a show

- BABY A. GIL

Somewhere in the future when Before You Exit members look back on the early days of their career, they will remember that long before they made it big in the U. S. of A. and other countries, they became pop stars first in the Philippines. They are in very good company. Bands like the legendary Commodores with Lionel Richie as founding member and The Backstreet Boys, the ultimate boy band of all time, got their first taste of big- time stardom in this country and went on to global success soon after. So watch out world for Before You Exit.

The young, good- looking band, composed of the McDonough brothers, comes from Orlando, Florida, the hometown of the Backstreet Boys. They are Connor, 23 years old, on vocals, lead guitar, piano, keyboards and drums; Riley, 21, who sings lead vocals and plays guitar; and Toby McDonough, 19, on piano, vocals, guitar and keyboards. The boys were an instant favorite among heartthrob- loving Pinoys on their first time out here. Since then, screaming fans have packed their shows on every visit and eagerly lapped up their songs. In fact, their latest EP All The Lights debuted No. 1 on iTunes in the Philippines last April.

Before You Exit, more commonly known as BYE, first came to visit for the Circuit Fest in 2013. It was followed by its headlining Dangerous tour a year later with the Philippines as its only Asian destination. Then the boys were here again last January 2016 for the 3LOGY in Manila show. And then, fans brace yourselves for this bit of news, for they will be back again at the Kia Theater in Araneta Center in Cubao on Feb. 24.

Expect swoony live renditions of the pop rock hits from the All The Lights album, Model, Other Kids, I Won’t Stop, When I’m Gone, Suitcase and their latest single release Radiate. Fans can also count on treats from their previouslyreleased EPs A Short Story Long, Letting Go and I Like That. Now that the trophy- giving at the Grammy Awards 2017 is over, I think it is time to put an end to all the talk about whether the major awards should have gone to Beyoncé instead of Adele and to whether there was racism involved in the vote. Voters anywhere never get to please everybody and the Grammys is no exception. I now think it would be best instead to just check out what might be in the 2018 Grammys and to have fun listening to these new songs.
