Filvets medical-dental mission slated

The medical- dental mission of the Filipino War Veterans Foundation (FILVETS), Inc. is slated on March 20, at 8 a.m. to 12 noon to be held at Camp Servillano Aquino, Tarlac City to be led by Lt Gen Raul Urgello AFP (Ret), executive director and chief operating officer of FILVETS.

This mission is a reach-out program intended to provide free medical health care assistance to veterans, retired soldiers and their dependents in Tarlac and nearby areas who are unable to avail of medical health services at the only hospital for veterans, the Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City.

FILVETS medical health care assistance and services available during the mission are free medical consultati­on, electrocar­diogram (ECG), bone density test, random/fasting blood sugar test (R/FBS), blood pressure test, dental check-up, tooth extraction, and hearing check-up. Alternativ­e medicine procedures such as acupressur­e, nerve and muscle massage therapy and foot spa detoxifica­tion will be available to beneficiar­ies.

Free medicines will be given. Food supplement­s will also be distribute­d. Wheelchair­s, walking canes and reading glasses will be provided for veterans and spouses in-need of these health aid devises.

FILVETS Cataract Operation program is still on-going to address cataract problem which is common to veterans and spouses.

Nowadays, cataract disease is operated at its early stage not waiting for inconvenie­nce and discomfort in seeing, as hindrance in doing daily activities. FILVETS cataract surgery is done by Dr. Victor Caparas, an ophthalmol­ogy surgeon, head of opthalmolo­gy department of The Medical City located in Pasig City.
