Netizen commends 3 enforcers’ professionalism

- – Robertzon Ramirez

It is not something new for motorists in Metro Manila to see Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) traffic enforcers get involved in heated altercations.

Journalist James Deakin posted on Facebook an account by an anonymous woman who shared her encounter with traffic enforcers she identified only as Vermug, Bilano and Emilano on Friday night.

The post has received more than 2,000 likes and shared more than 100 times as of yesterday afternoon.

The woman said her daughter figured in an accident while driving on EDSA between Guadalupe in Makati City and Pioneer street in Mandaluyong. She said her daughter was driving her brother home from school when the accident happened and the three enforcers approached.

“I had to rush to the scene as this was the first time that my daughter had a car accident. She was nervous, but the professional manner that the MMDA traffic officers managed the situation made my daughter feel safe and comfortable,” the woman said.

Her daughter described Vermug a “very motherly” traffic enforcer, she said. The woman also praised the motorcycle rider Jojo Avila, who was involved in the accident, because of his “patience and calm demeanor.”

“Considering all the heated altercations that we see and read about, it’s good to know that you can still meet good people even in unfortunate circumstances,” she said.

The woman said the three enforcers deserve a commendation. MMDA officer-in-charge Tim Orbos said the enforcers will be given formal commendations tomorrow. He added that he will also begin posting the names of employees who have rendered “exemplary service.”

“I will also try to come out with a package of incentives and benefits, no matter how small they may be in the beginning,” Orbos said.
