Ica Serafica brings classic back to the quick-fix age

-

In every designer’s heart is a desire to make something ordinary extraordinary, to turn something ugly into a thing of beauty.

Fashion designer Ica Serafica quotes philosopher Joseph Campbell, who said, “When you see something beautiful, a dynamic energy occurs that stirs something in you, your state of consciousness is altered, you feel an extraordinary moment of poetry and grace. When we are transfixed by beauty, we are beheld in an aesthetic arrest, we well up inside, it freezes time, it forces us to marvel and allows us to be contemplative beings. We love this experience as it provides us with respite from the darkness in the human condition, and we revel in a kind of ecstatic illumination. Our spirit sings in rapture and we are captivated.”

Serafica says, “I needed this collection to reflect that. In this Instagram age where everything is sensationalized, I wanted to show things that last more than a swipe away. So I looked to traditions, things and values that were fought for and celebrated because they had meaning. I wanted to bring back the classics that had timeless beauty. I wanted to make the wearer and those who see her fall in love with what they see. Depending on how we see ourselves and how others see us, that sense of awe comes back to us. Inspired by the past, rising above the quick-fix age and with an eye towards the future — a positively progressive, beautiful future.”
