Drug suspect shot, 23 held

A drug surrendere­e was wounded after being shot by motorcycle-riding assailants in Malabon City on Thursday.

Kevin Magcalas, 26, was fixing his motorcycle at the corner of Kagitingan and Karingalan streets when the assailants fired at him.

Residents in the area rushed Magcalas to the Tondo Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition.

Police have arrested 23 persons in separate anti-drug operations in Metro Manila since Thursday.

Members of the Caloocan police drug enforcemen­t unit aprehended Domingo Pedivna Jr., 49, after he allegedly handed over a sachet of shabu to a policeman who posed as a buyer in Barangay 144.

Pedivna allegedly yielded two sachets of shabu.

In Navotas, anti-narcotics agents collared Eduardo Amulong, 49, in Barangay North Bay Boulevard North shortly after midnight yesterday.

Police said they recovered four sachets of shabu from Amulong.

Tristan Wong, 25, and Rafael Baylon, 34, were apprehende­d for alleged shabu possession in Barangay Longos, Malabon.

In Pasig, three more suspected drug personalit­ies were arrested by police. They were Juanito Reyes, Lester Reyes and Enrico Santos, alias Papa.

City police chief Senior Superinten­dent Orlando Yebra Jr. said Juanito allegedly yielded a sachet of shabu along Dr. Sixto Antonio Avenue in Barangay Rosario.

Lester was nabbed in a drug sting along F. Andres street near the barangay's sports complex.

Police said they recovered from Lester four sachets of shabu and the marked money.

Santos was apprehende­d in another operation at the corner of Dr. Sixto Avenue and Bernal street in Barangay Rosario.

He reportedly yielded five sachets of shabu and loaded .45-caliber pistol.

In Quezon City, police rounded up 16 drug suspects in Barangays Veterans, Nagkaisang Nayon and Pasong Tamo.

Authoritie­s said they recovered packets of shabu from the suspects. –
