NU belles, Tams to step up semis bid
National U and Far Eastern U seek to bolster their respective Final Four drives in a crucial duel today in the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tourney at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Lady Bulldogs (75), currently tied for third with idle Santo Tomas and University of the Philippines, seek to get inside track in the race for the two remaining F4 berths against an FEU side (6-6) determined to keep its bid alive.
The NU-FEU showdown is set at 4 p.m.
Defending champion and early semifinalist La Salle, meanwhile, guns for the solo lead versus also ran Adamson (0-12) in the 2 p.m. opener.
The Lady Bulldogs look to get back on track after yielding a 14-25, 27-25, 21-25, 12-25 loss to University of the Philippines last time.
“We need to improve after that loss. It’s important that we motivate the players going into the next two games which are mustwins,” said NU assistant Edjet Mabbayad, who stood in as coach Roger Gorayeb missed the game to attend to his son’s graduation.
“It’s a challenge for us; hope we’ll be able to play our game under pressure,” said FEU mentor Shaq delos Santos.
