Drug suspect slain in Pateros encounter
A drug suspect was killed while a police officer and a bystander were wounded in an encounter that broke out during a sting in Pateros before dawn yesterday.
Harrison Capestrano, 36, reportedly pulled out a firearm after sensing that he was dealing with undercover agents, according to Chief Inspector Jenny Tecson, spokesperson for the Southern Police District.
Tecson said Police Officer 2 Carmelo Tuzon suffered a gunshot wound in the hand while bystander Elizabeth Vibar, 57, was hit by a stray bullet.
Tuzon was rushed to the ACE Medical Center in Pateros for treatment. He was transferred to the PNP General Hospital at Camp Crame.
Vibar was taken to the Rizal Medical Center in Pasig City. where she underwent surgery.
Police recovered from Capestrano a revolver, a plastic sachet said to contain shabu and drug paraphernalia.
Meanwhile, two unidentified men including a minor were injured in separate shooting incidents in Barangay Baclaran, Parañaque City on Friday night.
Police said motorcycleriding men shot the victim, who ran to a bakery to seek refuge.
In another incident, a pedicab driver was sitting in front of a shoe store when a motorcycle pulled over.
One of the riders approached the victim and shoot him.
The victims were rushed to separate hospitals for treatment.
