Cream Dory became popular a few years ago, but not without some controversy. This, however, has fizzled out at it has proven to be good fish. It is popularly made into crispy fillets or steamed Chinese style. Lately we have, at the suggestion of a sibling, done this into sinigang. And it is good! Done the usual way with souring agents, rice washing and vegetables, it produces a savory broth and the fillet keeps its shape, not disintegrating into small pieces. So there, a new recipe for Cream Dory.

It is always a pleasure to shop at the Robinson’s Supermarket in our area. It is on the street level, there is a ramp and the merchandize is well organized, staff and cashiers are friendly. There is always a good chance of discovering new items. By the entrance is a display for cookies and biscuits, local and imported, usually on discounted prices. We get

aliw checking all of them out, picking up a box or two. In the freezer, we found some Dizon sweets in individual containers – maja blanca and leche flan, at P22 per, with the latter also having a bigger tub at P85. The greens are always fresh and sometimes kale is offered. Of the mushrooms, we actually skip looking at them, as portobello is always high priced, here as anywhere else. They have baby portobello, however. There is a wide selection of dressing, one of the newest being the garlic spread from Gourmet Farms. But most of all, we find the prices in Robinson’s Nuvali lower than in some supermarkets.

Barangay woes. We lost the original of our senior card and we were pleased that there is a barangay unit in our area, Westgrove in Silang, Cavite. The happy thought fizzled out when we were claiming the new card after three days, which was the time the barangay people told our representative to come back. Well, what do you know – there were some requirements they still needed to process, and told us this would cost P200, which we accomplished and paid for. Our ordeal continued, as the staff would be out of the office during work days. For nearly three weeks, they strained our patience, not reporting for work during certain days and near the end of third week, they tell us the signatory went to Baguio! For what we don’t know. Where do we find redress in this infuriating situation? Who do these people answer to?

Still, have a happy Sunday! E-mail me at lydiadolores34@gmail.com.
