MLTV EXPLORES STYLE AND FUNCTION TRENDS IN THE GROWING MANILA ART SCENE
After an exciting season premiere, Modern Living TV hosts Bianca Gonzalez and Stephanie Zubiri delves right into Modern Living TV’s seventh season with another episode that checks out the latest in premier lifestyles across the metro.
Right off the bat, Steph takes a closer look into contemporary furniture retailer Philux’s newest campaign, Philux Fix, which was launched through a furniture and photo exhibit earlier this year. The collection featured a collaboration with influencers hailing from different backgrounds who were given the liberty of customizing their furniture while infusing their charm into their work.
From stylish chair pieces for celebrities such as Heart Evangelista and Erwan Heussaff to more specific items such as a bar cabinet for Cristalle and Justin Pitt, each set of furniture perfectly emulated the aesthetic beauty that Philux was trying to achieve. Steph herself envisioned a set of cute little chairs for her kids that fit her family’s style perfectly. She was also ecstatic when she found out about Little Philux, their newest kids’ line.
Meanwhile, Bianca’s mission is to find the most stylish pair of sunglasses perfect for the summer beach weather. Naturally, she turned to the Sunnies’ HQ for advice. Sunnies Studios has always strived to keep their designs fresh by constantly reinventing timeless styles. With most universal sunglasses having flattering yet basic shapes, Sunnies plays on its design modifications to keep the style current.
For Pinoys, experts said that the Sunnies’ Pilot or Kiko frames are well-suited to almost any face shape. Those with square or round faces should try out oversized frames to balance out and soften their natural shape.
At the end of the segment, Bianca added that it’s also best to go out and be bold with any design choice you make. Whether you’re sporting a pair of big, round sunnies or a narrow-framed square specs, just be sure to wear it with confidence and you’ll definitely be ready to face summer with style and flair.
With the Philippine art scene flourishing in Manila more than ever, Steph brings us on a tour of the fifth edition of Art Fair Philippines held at The Link in Makati last February. The much-awaited annual art event has become instrumental in discovering upcoming artists and emerging new movements in visual and multimedia arts.
Art enthusiasts from all walks of life made it a point to drop by the biggest installment of Art Fair Philippines yet. Art Fair Philippines has grown its core audience of 6,000 visitors in 2013 to a whopping 22,000 in 2016. A variety of students, young professionals and families out on a weekend stroll comprised a large number of the visitors.
One of the highlights of this year’s art installations is WSK (WASAK), a sound art installation that brought together eight sound artists. With the overwhelming support shown toward the art scene, it is well accepted that art fairs are not only favorable toward collectors and members of the art enterprise, but the clamor for art events also help introduce local contemporary art to a bigger audience. Make sure to catch another engaging episode of Modern Living TV tonight at 6 p.m on ANC.
