- By KRISTINA VILLANUEVA

Games today 1 p.m. – Cafe Lupe vs Army (men’s) 4 p.m. – Perlas vs Power Smashers (women’s)

6:30 p.m. – Pocari Sweat vs Air Force (women’s)

Four teams reeling from previous setbacks clash today, all but one seeking to get back on track in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

But Pocari Sweat will be most hard-pressed to notch a win after the defending champions dropped their first two matches in the seasonopening conference of the 14th season of the league.

The Lady Warriors try to arrest their early slump as they tangle with the Air Force Lady Jet Spikers, who also absorbed their second loss in three games, at 6:30 p.m.

Perlas and the Power Smashers, locked in a three-way tie at second spot at 1-1 with Creamline, shoot for solo second in the 4 p.m. opener.

Pocari Sweat head coach Rommel Abella hopes to draw a stronger showing from his wards in the homestretch as they try to nail the elusive win after the Lady Warriors took a 23-25, 22-25, 14-25 beating from the unbeaten BaliPure Water Defenders late Thursday night.

“We applaud their efforts in the first and second part of the set. It’s just that toward the end, when we reach 21 to 25, we give up. We can’t just give away points. We have to earn those,” said Abella. “In the dugout, I did not single out anyone as to why we lost a set and the whole game. Everybody has to step up especially we’re on a two-game losing streak.”

Myla Pablo and Jeanette Panaga are expected to step up this time against the Jet Spikers, who will be banking on Jocemer Tapic, May Ann Pantino and Angel Antipuesto.

Air Force bowed to a resurgent Creamline, 23-25, 16-25, 22-25, also last Thursday.
