Earthday Jam 2017 rocks the Rizal Park
The 17th edition of Earthday Jam held recently at the Rizal Park was once again a success as thousands of jammers took part in singing and dancing to their favorite OPM tunes while being educated by inspiring visuals, envi-games and different speakers on how to take care of Mother Earth.
“It’s a very successful debut at Rizal Park. Kudos to all of us! We know that everyone will treasure our message on environmental care,” said Earthday Jam Foundation, Inc. founder Lou Bonnevie.
The concert was opened by a 12-piece jazz ensemble called Brass Pas Pas Pas Pas followed by Bratpack and Gracenote that set the audience’s mood for a long night of rock and roll. Moonstar 88 performed its classic songs
Migraine and Torete while Brownman Revival and Imago made the audience dance with their hits Lintik and Taralets, respectively.
Lou did her own rendition of We Will Rock You and Walking on Sunshine. The audience jammed with her in reggae grooves of Kapayapaan and swooned over her inspiring performance of the classic I Wanna Know What Love Is.
Noel Cabangon and Kitchie Nadal collaborated on stage with Asin’s classic song Usok that gave concert-goers the chills. Gloc 9 and Abra also performed on stage. Gloc 9 wowed the crowd with Sirena,
Magda and Diwata while Abra rendered Gayuma.
The audience roared in delight with heavy metal performances by Slapshock, Chicosci, Autotelic and Philia with Mayonnaise closing the concert with the hit song Jopay.
The music sets were complemented with messages from Gina Lopez, NPDC executive director Penny Belmonte and other NGO personalities. The special “Gaia Awards” were given to Kitchie and environmental luminaries Edward Hagedorn and Emmanuel Shutz. Concert hosts Alvin Anson, Pam Nieva and Midi Gentica also reminded the audience to do their share for Mother Earth by picking up every piece of trash on the venue. They, too, invited them to join the Pass the Trash Segment.
