Man, 86, rapes girl, 8

ILOILO CITY – An 86-year-old man was arrested on Monday for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl in Miagao town two years ago.

Jaime Esmero was collared at his house in Barangay Bacolod based on a warrant issued by Iloilo Regional Trial Court Branch 67 Judge Victor Gelvezon.

Police Officer 2 Maricel Celestial, Miag-ao police women and children’s protection desk acting chief, said the victim claimed Esmero molested her several times in 2015.

Esmero denied the allegations, saying he is too old and sickly to commit the crime. He added that he was not in the village when the alleged rape occurred.
