ILIGAN CITY – A New People’s Army (NPA) leader in Mindanao was arrested in Ozamiz City on Thursday.

Rommel Salinas, secretary of the Western Mindanao committee, was in a Starex van driven by Sadome David, with his wife Maria Teofina and Bishop Carlo Morales of the Aglipayan church when he was collared at a checkpoint manned by soldiers of the 102nd Army Brigade and Ozamiz policemen in Barangay Gango.

Brig. Gen. Rolando Joselito Bautista, First Army Division and Joint Task Force Zampelan chief, said Salinas yielded a hand grenade.

The arrest was based on warrants for extortion, arson, murder, frustrated murder, attempted murder and robbery issued by local courts.
