Grand TC series gets going today
Circuit racing takes center stage today with the start of the Grand Touring Car Championships Series at the Batangas Racing Circuit in Rosario, Batangas.
Defending Yokohama Driver of the Year Edwin Rodriguez sets out for a repeat of his title feat last year with competition tipped to become tougher, fiercer featuring old and new rivalries.
The event actually serves as part of the 2017 ENEOS Philippine Motorsports Championship season sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP), and sponsored by Yokohama, the official tires and Sparco.
Aside from the Yokohama GT Races, other events on tap are the Philminiracers Classic Mini Racing, Classic Aspirated Cup and the Sparco Bracket Race.
Aspiring racecar drivers also get the chance to shine in the Sparco Track Attack Challenge.
Rodriguez pulled off a big surprise last year when he became the first GT100 driver to capture the coveted Yokohama GT Driver of the Year plum. Previous winners of the event were GT300 drivers.
Focus will also be on former champions Willie Torres, Richmon Dela Rosa, Joey Pery and Paolo Mantolino who are out to dispute the GT300 crown.
