Bulldogs, Falcons dispute lead; Archers face Pirates

-

Games today 11:15 p.m. – Perpetual Help vs Letran 1:30 p.m. – Mapua vs UP 3:15 p.m. – Adamson vs NU 5 p.m. – La Salle vs LPU

UAAP champ La Salle tests Lyceum of the Phl U’s mettle in a top Group A match even as Adamson and National U dispute the Group B lead today in the Filoil Flying V Premier Cup at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

The Pirates swept their first three matches to share the lead with the idle Jose Rizal Bombers but the Muralla-based cagers are in for tougher outing as they face the Archers in the 5 p.m. main game of a heavy four-game bill.

The Archers have recovered from a shock 81-85 setback to the JRU Bombers last May 1 by winning their next two games, including a 109-81 rout of the UST Tigers last Sunday in a fightmarred game that resulted to a two-game suspension for Archer Ramil Tero and a one-game ban on Tiger Marvin Lee.

But with Ben Mbala at the helm, the Archers remain the favorites in the featured match.

LPU, on the other hand, is expected to rely anew on CJ Perez, who has normed a teambest 14 points in its three wins, that included a 96-80 romp over University of the East last week.

But coach Topex Robinson remains wary of the Archers.

“We all know La Salle is a powerhouse team an MVP in Ben Mbala and a very deep roster,” said Robinson. “What we can do is try to compete with them from start to finish and see what happens.”

Meanwhile, one win run will be sustained and the other snapped as the Falcons (4-0) and the Bulldogs (3-0) tangle at 3:15 p.m.

In other matches, Perpetual Help (0-1) takes on Letran (0-3) at 11:15 a.m. and State U debuts against Mapua (0-3) at 1:30 p.m.
