Sadorra escapes with another draw
GM Julio Sadorra fought eighth seed GM Surya Shekhar Ganguly of India to a 34-move draw of a Slav Defense in the sixth round of the Asian Continental Chess Championships in Chengdu, China Wednesday night and stayed in the hunt for a berth in the World Cup.
The third straight standoff kept Sadorra, 30, unbeaten with two wins and four draws, at sixth spot along with 10 others with four points, one point behind solo leader No. 6 GM Wang Hao of China, who split the point with Indian GM Chithambaram Vr. Aravindh.
Most importantly, Sadorra stayed within sight of a Top 5 finish which will give him a slot in the World Chess Cup set Sept. 1-25 in Batumi/Tbilisi, Georgia.
