Cop held for drugs names police scalawags

- By NON ALQUITRAN

A policeman arrested for allegedly selling shabu in Teresa, Rizal on Wednesday has linked several policemen, including some officials, to the illegal drug trade.

Police Officer 1 Fernan Manimbo of the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Rizal police made the confession to Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa when he confronted the policeman, said Chief Superintendent MaO Aplasca, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) police director.

“Once we have prima facie evidence against (these policemen), I will recommend to the PNP chief that they be as- signed to Basilan,” Aplasca said in an interview.

He did not identify the policemen even as he hinted that some of them are detailed at Camp Crame.

Manimbo was reportedly delivering 100 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P200,000 when he was arrested.

The Calabarzon police said Manimbo is a “highvalue” drug suspect.

Dela Rosa relieved Senior Inspector Richard Ganalon, Teresa police chief, for command responsibility.

Saying he is tired of appealing to policemen to stay away from illegal drugs, Dela Rosa had challenged police scalawags to a shootout.
