Until summer’s end on the 31st, The Gallerie of Rustan’s Makati is reimagined into a luxury resort cabana housing a curation of the department store’s latest and chicest resortwear and swimwear offerings as well as travel essentials at the Rustan’s Cabana Pop-in.
“This really began with the creatives at work in the office daydreaming of a getaway. Conceptualizing this event for the shoppers and ourselves, we thought, why don’t we bring the getaway here?” shares Rustan's head of marketing and communications Dina Tantoco.
Instead of pop-ups and e-commerce, Rustan’s makes good on what it has always been known for: curated lux- ury, yes, but also personalized service. On plush couches, I slipped my feet into the flattering magic of sinuous Aquazurra stilettos and tried on statement earrings by Shashi and Gas Bijoux. In private dressing rooms, fashion editors slipped into a something more comfortable as they geared up for the beach: knit bikinis by Seafolly, printed bikinis by Maaji, and minimalist maillots by Onia. (Are you the glamorous boho girl with the Seafolly beach kimono and Dorfman Pacific floppy hat or the laidback lass who’s all about loving local in a Two Point O twinset and Tali Handmade crossbody?) The video campaign featuring cousins Martine Cajucom, Ava Daza, and Jess Wilson in their Natori, Diane von Furstenberg, Christian Louboutin and Gianvito Rossi favorites, frolicking around the department store, making it look like shopping for their next destination is a big thrill in itself. At Rustan’s, it actually is. There’s also that added motivation of winning one more getaway: to Kandaya Resort in Daanbantayan, Cebu. You can pick a prize after shopping with a minimum single-receipt purchase worth P8,000 from the Cabana Pop-in, but you also stand a chance to win a three-day, two-night stay at Kandaya Resort with every purchase worth P3,000 (equals one electronic raffle entry) across all departments at participating Rustan’s Stores — which also includes Rustan’s Gateway, Alabang and Cebu — until May 31.
