4 drug suspects killed, 11 arrested

At least four persons with suspected drug links were killed in alleged shootouts in Caloocan City and 11 more were arrested in other parts of Metro Manila over the past two days.

Dennis Bautista was killed when he allegedly fired at a police officer during a drug sting along Everlastin­g street in Barangay 177 at around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Police reported recovering a .38 caliber revolver from the suspect.

Julius Soriano was shot dead in another sting along Tambakan street in Barangay 12 two hours later. Probers recovered a .38 caliber revolver, a weighing scale, six sachets of shabu, two sachets of marijuana and several bullets.

Rodel Alcaraz, 43, was killed by police officers sent to arrest him in Barangay Bagong Silang. A .38 caliber revolver, a sachet of shabu and drug parapherna­lia were recovered from the suspect.

Police officers shot dead alleged drug suspect Frederick Cleofas, 30, in Rubyville Bukid, Barangay 160 before dawn yesterday. The lawmen responded to calls about the presence of an armed man in the area.

‘Ninja cop’ falls

A policeman, tagged as a “ninja cop,” was arrested along with two others in a sting in Quezon City on Wednesday night.

Senior Police Officer 2 Arsenio David, 55, was apprehende­d after he allegedly sold shabu to fellow police officers near a fastfood restaurant in the Philcoa area along Commonweal­th Avenue at around 10 p.m.

His partner, Lucila Palencua, 44, and Arbild Blanco, 42, were also arrested during the sting.

Chief Superinten­dent Guillermo Eleazar, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director, accused David of recycling drugs even if he was never assigned to anti-drug units.

David was dropped from the rolls in April after being absent without official leave since October 2016. He was recruited in 1988 and has been with the QCPD for most of his career. He was supposed to retire next year.

QC, Marikina operations

Also in Quezon City, Glawyn Balaguer and Joel Taruc were arrested in a sting along Mindanao Avenue yesterday.

Police officers recovered P1 million worth of shabu, a weighing scale and drug parapherna­lia from the suspects, Eleazar said.

Four persons were caught in a drug session at an alleged pusher’s home in Marikina City on Wednesday.

Gerald Maralit, 44; Noer Nora, 40; Christophe­r Hernandez, 44; and John Estares, 20 were allegedly found using shabu in Maralit’s garage at around 3:45 p.m.

A subsequent search of Maralit’s house in Greenland Subdivisio­n yielded at least 60 grams of shabu with a street value of P360,000 and drug parapherna­lia, said Chief Superinten­dent Romulo Sapitula, Eastern Police District director.

He accused Maralit, an Uber driver, of being behind the proliferat­ion of shabu in Barangay Nangka and nearby areas.

Arvin Bondo, 37, and two of his companions were arrested in a sting along Marindal street in Malinta, Valenzuela at around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Galo Pacuba, 41, was alleged caught using shabu in a house on Stotsenbur­g street in Barangay 171, Caloocan City at around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday.

Gilbert Asi, 34, was caught carrying a sachet of shabu along Bukidnon street in Barangay 153 at around 5 a.m. yesterday.

In Malabon, Noli Remis was caught carrying a sachet of shabu in Barangay Longos at around 12:30 a.m. yesterday.
