9 killed in shootings

Nine persons, three of them drug suspects, were killed in separate incidents in the past two days.

Mark Lester Marimon, 26, a resident of Barangay Tambulong; an alias Julius of Barangay Caingin in Plaridel and Ronald Francis Gariando, 28, alias Botong, of Graceville in San Jose del Monte, all in Bulacan, reportedly drew their guns when they sensed they had sold shabu to policemen who posed as buyers.

Senior Superinten­dent Romeo Caramat, Bulacan police acting director, said sachets of shabu and guns were recovered from the fatalities.

A certain Moymoy reportedly fired at policemen responding to a robbery in Barangay Muzon also in San Jose del Monte. His three companions escaped.

Meanwhile, in Batangas, motorcycle-riding men shot Carlito Landicho, in Barangay Muzon, Alitagtag; Leonilo Benjamin in Balete, Tanauan City; John Glenn Tolentino in Kumintang Ibaba, Batangas City and Ariel Alvarez of Sico, San Juan.

Joylyn Gloria, was al- legedly shot by Marcial Amoranto Jr., alias Bitoy in Barangay De la Paz, Biñan City, Laguna.

Police have yet to determine the motives for the killings.

11 arrested in stings

Jhomel Abut, 39, alias Kirat, and Philip Ramones, 43, councilmen of Barangay Dacal in Sanchez Mira, Cagayan, and Ambabaay, Bani, Pangasinan, were among at least 11 persons arrested as the government continued its war against illegal drugs in Luzon on Wednesday.

Abut reportedly sold two sachets of shabu worth P1,500 to an undercover agent while a big pack and 35 sachets of shabu were allegedly recovered from Ambabaay.

The most wanted drug personalit­y in Jones, Isabela, Marvin Antolin, 31, was collared in Barangay 1. A cell phone containing alleged drug deals were recovered from the suspect, police said.
