5 drug suspects, 8 others shot dead

Thirteen people, including five drug suspects, were gunned down in separate incidents across the country in the past two days.

Ernesto Cabalza, 28, allegedly drew his gun when he sensed he had sold shabu to undercover agents in Barangay Annafunan East in Tuguegarao, Cagayan on Sunday.

Rosby de Leon, 45, and Denmark Jay Mungcal, 20, also allegedly shot it out with police in a sting in Barangay Cabetican, Bacolor, Pampanga.

Drug surrendere­e and former village councilman Fredy del Rosario was having a massage in front of his store in Barangay Calao East, Santiago, Isabela when an unidentifi­ed man shot him in the head.

Senior Superinten­dent Percival Rumbaoa, Santiago police chief, said Del Rosario was an aide of Johnny de Leon, a suspected drug lord in Cagayan Valley, who died in a shootout with police in Quezon City also on Sunday.

Suspected drug pusher Joven Castroverd­e, 30, reportedly pulled out his gun and fired at anti-drug operatives in Barangay Dalid, Calinog, Iloilo before noon yesterday.

Meanwhile, Arvin Dexter Zapanta, 44, chairman of Barangay San Gabriel in Teresa, Rizal, was inspecting a garden near the barangay hall when he was shot at around 6:55 a.m. yesterday.

Randy Ramos and municipal court employee Reynaldo Daguman were on a motorcycle when they were fired at in Barangay Carayman, Calbayog, Samar before 8 a.m. also yesterday.

Jamier Davban, 24, was shot in Barangay Poblacion, North Solano, Nueva Vizcaya; taxi driver Salome Torbeles, 40, in Caingin, Sta. Rosa, Laguna and constructi­on worker Ruel Daniel in Anabu 2D, Imus City, Cavite on Sunday.

Student Salman Madale, 18, was buying cigarettes at a convenienc­e store in Barangay San Vicente, Urdaneta, Pangasinan when he was fired at.

In Quirino, Glenn Rumbaoa was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds in Sitio Quirat, Barangay Rizal in Saguday town.

Police have yet to determine the motives for the gun attacks.
