SM Kids casting call
What does it take to be a model? Young kids aged four to 12 recently had a glimpse of life on the runway and photo shoots during the SM Kids Casting Call grand finals, the culmination of a nationwide search, held recently at SM Makati.
It was a dream come true for eight-yearold Claudia Westfall from SM City Cagayan de Oro who was named the first grand winner of SM Kids’ Casting Call. Claudia displayed confidence in every step she took on the runway in her SM Kids outfit, and stood out in the fashion photo shoot. Her mesmer- izing young beauty plus SM Kids fashionable ensemble stood out on the runway. Claudia received amazing prizes including P20,000 worth of SM gift certificates and a chance to model for SM Kids.
All 10 finalists, who each took on a solo spot on the runway to showcase their SM Kids outfits and participated in a fashion photo shoot, impressed the judges.
“They are like professional models,” observed model Hideo Muraoka, who was one of the judges, “it’s obvious that they are enjoying it.” Tracy Garcia, former project manager of GMA Films and talent manager for GMA Artist Center was impressed by the young talents, while TV host, beauty model and architect Shamcey Supsup-Lee, who was third runnerup in the 2011 Miss Universe pageant gave some words of advice to the young models.
“You can do modelling at a young age,” she said, “but education is important and you have to excel in school as well.”
Other winners included six-year-old Ashley Princess Duprey from SM Seaside City Cebu, first runner-up; and nine-year-old Liam Thaddea Paglicawan from SM City Lucena, second runner-up. They received P15,000 and P10,000 worth of SM gift certificates, respectively.
