For­mer bet now heads Mutya search

The Mutya ng Pilip­inas, Inc. (MPI) Board of Di­rec­tors has tapped 2005 Mutya Ng Pilip­inas Top 10 fi­nal­ist/2014 Miss Global City Asia/2014 Mrs. Uni­verse Philip­pines Hemi­lyn Es­cud­ero-Ta­mayo as its new head.

“I’m ex­cited to lead the or­ga­ni­za­tion that I’ve been with for the past decade,” said Hemi­lyn. “I want to be a part of the Mutya his­tory as it cel­e­brates its golden an­niver­sary next year.”

Hemi­lyn is highly qual­i­fied for the po­si­tion. She took up Fi­nan­cial Man­age­ment Pro­gram at Collin County Com­mu­nity Col­lege in Texas, USA. She has worked ei­ther as pres­i­dent, vice pres­i­dent or con­sul­tant in var­i­ous com­pa­nies. In 2015, she was awarded Most Out­stand­ing Im­age Con­sul­tant by Dan­gal ng Bayan. Hemi­lyn is the PR con­sul­tant of the fam­ily-owned Per­pet­ual Help Med­i­cal Cen­ter in Las Piñas City.

“Shar­ing is car­ing,” said Hemi­lyn who founded Sagip Anghel As­so­ci­a­tion (SAA), with Queen With­out Scars Philip­pines (QWSP) as her other brain­child. “It’s my ad­vo­cacy to save the an­gels (aban­doned fe­tuses) and help share love with them.” For that, she was given an Asian Achiever for Hu­man­i­tar­ian Ser­vice Award in 2014.

Cur­rently fin­ish­ing her Doc­tor of Phi­los­o­phy and Masters in Or­ga­ni­za­tional De­vel­op­ment at South East Asian In­ter­dis­ci­plinary In­sti­tute, Hemi­lyn said, “I thank all the men and women be­hind MPI, my fam­ily, friends and col­leagues for the trust, con­fi­dence and sup­port.”

In­ci­den­tally, Ilene Astrid De Vera, a BA Mass­com grad­u­ate from UP Cebu, was voted Dar­ling of the Press among the 30 “beauty tourism” ad­vo­cates from Lu­zon, Visayas, Min­danao, Manila and over­seas Filipino com­mu­ni­ties dur­ing the press pre­sen­ta­tion last July 20 in Ho­tel 101, Pasay City (the of­fi­cial res­i­dence). It was dur­ing the event when Jacque­line Tan-Sainz turned over the MPI pres­i­dency to Hemi­lyn.

The Swim­suit Com­pe­ti­tion was staged at Han­nah’s Beach Re­sort and Con­ven­tion Cen­ter, Pagud­pud, Ilo­cos Norte July 21-23) and De­signer’s Com­pe­ti­tion/Re­gional Cos­tume at The Plaza, Re­sorts World Manila yes­ter­day). Long Gown Com­pe­ti­tion at Alta D’Ta­gay­tay is set for July 28 and the grand coro­na­tion night at the New­port Per­form­ing Arts Theater, Re­sorts World Manila on Aug. 4 (tele­vised over ABS-CBN on Aug. 6 at 10 a.m.).
