- – Olmin Leyba

Pinay teener Chezka Centeno eased into the quarterfinals of the women’s pool competition of the World Games following a one-sided drubbing of her opening round rival Thursday at Wroclaw Congress Center in Wroclaw, Poland.

Centeno, the No. 7 ranked lady player in the world, played true to form and dispatched Molrudee Kasemchaiyan of New Zealand with plenty to spare, 9-2, to cruise to the Last-8.

A double gold medalist in the 2015 Southeast Asian Games, Centeno guns for a semis seat against Chou Chie Yu of Chinese Taipei, who was virtually merciless in her 9-1 demolition of Ina Kaplan-Jentschur of Germany.

Also through the quarters were Han Yu of China, 9-0 winner over Nicaraguan Karen Garcia; Oliwia Czuprynski of Poland, 9-5 over Natalia Seroshtan of Russia; Chihiro Kawahara of Japan, 9-3 over Nicola Rossouw of South Africa; Ga Young Kim of Korea, 9-2 over Karen Webb of US; Kristina Tkal of Russia, 9-4 over Kelly Fischer of Britain; and Chen Siming of China, 9-7 over Jennifer Barretta of US.

Centeno followed compatriot Carlo Biado into the next stage of the KO format tourney. Biado waylaid Joshua Filler of Germany, 115, over in the men’s Last-16 and was slated to play Mieszko Fortunski Friday (today in Manila) for a semis seat.

Muaythai bet Philip Delarmino, meanwhile, was scheduled to open his campaign against Almaz Sarsembekov of Kazakhstan in men’s 57kg class Friday.
