Ue alumni now active in Australia
The University of the East Alumni Association of Australia Inc. (UEAAAI) was recently organized and Philippine ambassador to Australia Minda Calaguian-Cruz presided over the induction ceremonies of the founding officers and board of directors for the newly established association.
Cruz, a notable UE alumna (AB ’73) and former faculty member of the UE College of Arts and Sciences-Manila, administered the oath-of-office to the UEAAAI’s founding officers, namely: Manuel Diel (BBA ‘69, cum laude), president; Floro Valdez (BBA ‘69), vice president; Amelia Diel (BBA ‘69), secretary; Revilla Fernandez (BBA ’70, cum laude), treasurer; Dave Tan (BS CS ‘11), press relations officer; and directors Mildred Banan (BBA ’77), Noel Bernardo (BSBA ‘75), Elsa Ringor Collado (CAS ’78), Lillian de los Reyes (BSBA ’83) and Dolores Alvarado Meekan (BBA ’71).
Evelyn Zaragoza, publisher of The Philippine Community Herald in Australia, introduced the UEAAAI officers and directors during a program recently at the Philippine embassy in Canberra.
Among those who attended and witnessed the event were officers and staff of the Philippine embassy in Canberra, namely: minister and consul General Nina Cainglet, first secretary and consul Jim Tito San Agustin, third secretary and vice consul Nicole Therese Antonio de Castro, and cultural attaché Sheila Marie Decolongon Tu as well as UEAAAI member Henry Fernandez and the partner of Floro Valdez, Nympha Valdez.
