MMDA men reshuffled over P50 meal allowance
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority will reshuffle its traffic enforcers following reports that MMDA personnel deployed in Greenhills in San Juan City are given P50 in meal allowance daily, an official said yesterday.
Roy Taguinod, director of the MMDA traffic discipline office, said the revamp would be implemented tomorrow.
Taguinod said the move aims to pre- vent undue familiarity of traffic enforcers in their areas of assignment.
“Any monetary allowance given by private individuals or companies to traffic enforcers is not allowed,” he said.
The MMDA received reports that traffic enforcers deployed in La Salle Green Hills had been receiving meal allowance from the parents-teachers association of LSGH for the last three years.
The school administration reportedly admitted providing meal allowance to the traffic enforcers as a “token of appreciation” for managing traffic around the school and assisting the students.
Bong Nebrija, MMDA operations supervisor, said at least eight traffic enforcers were regularly assigned near the school.
He said four of them have been suspended and investigated for administrative charges. –
